What I Learned from 10 SMC Blog Reports on Brogan

By Neil L.

This post isn’t like everyone else’s. I know the only people reading this are already familiar with Brogan and the social media club, so after a quick intro, I’ll get to the goods. Veteran social media trainer and top blogger Chris Brogan spoke to the Social Media Club of Dallas last Thursday to a room packed with over 200 advertising, marketing, personal branding, and business professionals on how to cultivate online relationships for business using the same principles with new tools.

What I Learned from Social Media People Reporting on Brogan

Several of the articles below cover what Brogan spoke about, the takeaways, and what some bloggers didn’t learn. The editorial aftermath from Brogan’s talk reinforced to me on how people respond to headlines. Two of the most popular blog post tweets: Three Things Chris Brogan Didn’t Teach Me & SMC Dallas and Chris Brogan: a Night of Great Disappointments. Both sound like they are going to be negative and/or controversial commentary on the well-liked Brogan. They were not, but they did get the most attention. Often users retweet, digg, stumble, or share other links without even reading the content or clicking on the link. There are certain psychological triggers which can cause a piece of content to go viral, being controversial or adversarial is one.  That’s social media for you. I do have to say, Brett Duncan’s post was quite hilarious and his personal, self-debasing, style makes you want to keep reading his company blog.

Via the hashtag #smcdallas, below are nine original blog posts and one video with recaps of the event in the words of the attendees.
